Distinguished Members of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association,
The 56th National Congress of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association will be held this year between 2-6 November 2022 at Antalya Belek Sueno Hotel and Congress Center. On behalf of the Central Board of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association and the National Congress Organization Committee, I am honored to invite you to this meeting, which is the biggest scientific activity of our association.
We entered an extraordinary period after March 2020, with the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in our country. In this extraordinary period that occurs every 100 years, all our colleagues have done their duty heroically, with extraordinary dedication. We commemorate our colleagues who did their duty at the expense of their lives, with great respect and gratitude. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Turkish Ophthalmology Association continued its educational activities mostly in the virtual environment. 1 National Congress, 2 Live Surgery Symposiums, 5 scheduled branch scientific meetings, and more than 120 webinars were held in the virtual environment during this period. But now we are feeling the Pandemic. In addition to the scientific activities, we also missed our friends and colleagues.
Physical meetings are the places where our longings are fulfilled, friendships are reinforced, in short, reminding us that we are a family.
In 2021, after a 1.5-year hiatus, TOD Central Board of Directors decided to hold the 55th National Congress in a physical environment. The 55th National Congress was successfully held with the participation of more than 1500 members. The Central Board of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association, taking the opinion of the TOD Branches and Units, decided to hold all scheduled meetings in a physical environment as of 2022. The 56th TOD National Congress in 2022 will be held in a physical environment while continuing to take Covid-19 precautions.
Our congress is planned to start with the traditional Science Advanced Education Programs (BİLEP), which will last a full day. As every year, our meeting will include panels, courses, roundtables, interactive meetings, video sessions, oral presentations and poster events, international youth ophthalmologist sessions and industry satellite meetings. I would also like to announce to you that our Skill Transfer Programs, one of our important activities in the field of practical education, will also be included in the congress program.
For the first time after a long time, the family of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association will come together with such a wide participation. We need solidarity and sharing together to rid ourselves of the effect of the pandemic and the anxieties of the war in our region. The biggest scientific and social programs for the Members of the Turkish Society of Ophthalmology are national congresses. We invite you to the 56th National Congress of TOD, which will be held between 2 and 6 November 2022, with the belief that the solidarity and cooperation within our community will become stronger with your participation.
Prof. Dr. Ziya Kapran
President of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association
Ophthalmology is one of the most developed and advanced departments of medical science. The National Congress of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association, which has now become a tradition, is the largest organization in our country where these progress and developments are discussed, explained and experience is shared.
In addition to sharing knowledge, insight and experience, by ensuring the solidarity of all our colleagues with the aforementioned Congresses, we offer the opportunity to meet our young colleagues and establish kinship through various social events that we have an increasing need in the recent times.
With the contributions of our Diyarbakır Branch, the 56th National Congress of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association will be held in Antalya/Belek, one of the most beautiful regions of our country, from 2 to 6 November 2022. Our congress will include conferences, panels, courses, oral presentations, posters, interactive meetings, science advanced education programs (BİLEP), skill sharing courses (BAK), Young Ophthalmologists Group sessions and sector satellite meetings, which will be presented by our local and foreign colleagues.
I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who contributed devotedly and with great energy for the realization of this Organization of great importance in the best way possible both scientifically and socially, especially TOD MYK, UKOK members and Diyarbakır Branch Board of Directors. I would like to thank all our colleagues who will generously share their knowledge and experience with us at our grand congress, our valuable members who honor us with their participation, the ophthalmology industry, the organization company and the congress center officials who support the congress.
On behalf of the Diyarbakir Branch, I am honored to invite you, our esteemed colleagues, to the 56th National Congress of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association with the hope that it will be a successful and productive congress.
